CAMS NSW State Championship

racing

The CAMS NSW State Championship has been the basis of competition for the PSCRAA over many years. There are usually six rounds of the championship each season, with each weekend races conducted in a sprint race format. The standard race weekend consists of practice combined with qualifying for the first session and a short sprint race of approximately eight laps on the Saturday, followed by two races of usually eight and ten laps respectively on the Sunday. There are usually up to seven different categories competing over these weekends, therefore there is plenty to see, whilst also providing time for drivers and crew to make adjustments to the cars in-between sessions.

Both the PSCRAA, and the CAMS NSW Production Sports Car Championships feature a ‘Power to Weight’ class system, ensuring close and exciting racing, where the overall championship winner can come from any one of four classes. The various strengths and weaknesses of each car sees the front runner change from track to track as each team tries to exploit their individual cars performance characteristics, with Classes B, C, and D dominating the results in recent years.
